Refund policy

We have a 30-day return policy, however this is not a strict policy and as long as we have not started the analysis we are happy to offer a full refund even after 30 days. If its past 30 days and we have started the analysis process, we can still likely refund some of the fee paid, depending on where we are at in the process and what expenses we have incurred.

To start a return, you can contact us at info@meteoritic.com with the subject line "Please Cancel and Refund Order #[your order number here]". If we have not started the analysis and you have not sent your sample yet, then there is nothing else to do and we will issue you a full refund. If we have not started the analysis but you have sent the sample to us, we will deduct a $20 sample return shipping and handling fee from the refund. If we have already started the analysis, then we cannot return the sample, and depending on how far along with the process we are, we will deduct an additional $50 sample prep and probe mount creation fee. *We cannot refund the order after the electron microprobe analysis has been performed. This is usually about 30 days into the order but may be a little sooner or a little later, therefore you need to contact LMAC to establish where in the process your sample is at if you need to cancel an order this far into the process. This is because LMAC is a non profit and we incur significant in-house material costs and user fees from our University partners that are equal to or exceed the fees we charge for our analysis services.

Sample Return, Partial Sample Return, Exceptions / non-returnable items
We do not return samples provided to us for analysis after we have started the analysis process. The analysis service we provide is necessarily destructive, and requires we cut and prepare sample material to make the microprobe mount for EPMA analysis services. ICP-MS analysis is a solution based process which requires we dissolve the sample into solution, and then super heat it into a plasma. We cannot return these samples after they have been prepared for analysis. If you have not shipped us your sample, this is not an issue.  If you cancel service prior to start of service, we will return your sample via USPS priority mail service with signature required, at a cost of $20 deducted from the refund of the service fee. 

European Union 14 day cooling off period
Notwithstanding the above, if the service is being provided to the European Union, you have the right to cancel or return your order within 14 days, for any reason and without a justification. As above, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.

Refunds
We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method within 10 business days. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too.
